Zoe's Birthday

January 3rd found Zoe turning 8!  It was also the first day the kids went back to school after Christmas break. Because her birthday fell on a Thursday she ended up having her special day stretch over a few days.

Her actual birthday found her in a new outfit from Christmas, and a box full of cupcakes for her class.  We had red chili (one of her favorites) for dinner and root beer floats for desert.

Friday was filled with more birthday fun.  Dave made and hid clues that made up a treasure map all over the house.  Zoe, Hosanna, and Lacy ran through the house squealing and finding special treats and more clues.  Once they had the map all taped together they went on their hunt and found a huge treasure of candy.  Zoe loves candy.

After school Zoe had a friend come over to spend the night.  She was very excited about having a friend over.  They set up a pop up house/tent in the living room and dragged their mattresses inside. They seemed to have fun, but due to the massive amount of candy Zoe ate she had trouble falling asleep!

Saturday was Zoe's party.  A few other friends came over and we loaded the bus up to go sledding.  We haven't been sledding in Cloquet yet this year, and I don't think we even went last year. It was a perfect day with warmer temps and plenty of sunshine.  We all had a lot of fun.  Goobs and Dave hit the hill with gusto.  She really loved sledding. When she went down with me (I tend to go slower than Dave), we'd reach the bottom and she'd say, "I want to go with Papa".

After sledding we went back home for lunch, cake, and presents.  Zoe got a bunch of great gifts.  She was pretty pumped.  My mom had made some pretty sweet snuggle robes for Lacy and Hosanna for Christmas.  I had seen the bunny one on Pinterest and had asked Mom if we could make them.  She ended up taking that idea and getting creative.  I LOVE what she came up with!   Lacy's is a giraffe since Lacy loves orange. Hosanna is a pink bunny, and Zoe's love for red and lady bugs landed her this pretty sweet lady bug snuggle!  Way to go Mom!

It was a fun few days and a great way to wrap up a long holiday season for us.  We start with Josiah's birthday and end with Zoe's.  I'm exhausted!  I also so proud of my little girl.  She is so grown up!  I can't believe how big she is.  Every birthday I make the kids a video and add to it.  Here is Zoe's.  Love you Zoe Bear!
